Mountain Bike Riding in Mt. Daisen of Tottori City

Tottori city is located at North East of Tokyo, Japan’s capital. Tottori city is also ‘slow city’ like Korea’s Cheongsan island’, Tottori city is very small city but it’s famous for the fact that people there live long.

Citizen there only buy vegetables from Tottori city, and dairy products made of milk from milk cows on very famous Mt. Daisen in Japan are popular.

Plus Mt.Daisen’s mountain bike course is also famous so they host ‘Mt.Daisen Mountain Bike Competition’ for mountain bike manias often in Japan.

Mt.Daisen’s mountain bike riding course & Coastal riding course

A journey from Sakaiminato harbor to Mt. Daisen is quite easy.

Once you get out of the harbor, there is #431 coastal road to Yonago IC. When you get Yonago IC along #431 coastal road, you can see English sign showing direction to Mt.Daisen.

Actually views between Sakaiminatio harbor and Yonago IC is normal scenery but once you get into the mountain road, you are surrounded by green color air.

It’s so green that even the air creates green color around you.
While riding bikes in green color air and green forest which , it feels I’m having quiet and peaceful time like my watch on my wrist stop working.

A course you will ride on next day is #9 coastal road course sightseeing Korea Sea.

You wanna go into inside of coastal road and enjoy sightseeing whenever you see a inside coastal road sign like Olle road in Jeju island of South Korea.

Even only #9 coastal road is fantastic enough to satisfy you but if you go into inside of the coastal road, you see more gorgeous views of Japanese’s coastal road.

Camping site in Mt.Daisen

Oku Daisen hotel of Qukamura company is the only one hotel built in Japan National Park.

You can enjoy Onsen which is Japanese style sauna in the hotel which is well organized and beautiful like Japanese architect or you can take a rest in hotel rooms with Japanese mattress on the floor after putting on Japanese’s traditional clothe.

Or if you are more active riders, you can enjoy bon fire and BBQ as having a camping around European style camping sites in Oku Daisen hotel.

You don’t need to worry even it’s rainy since they have indoor camping sites so even you can have bon fire inside.

Also you can rent all camping gear from hotel, so you don’t need to worry about camping gear.

It was my first time that I went to overseas expedition by ferry.
Prejudice about ferries? It’s that it takes so long compared to flight.

It takes about 14 hours to move 2 hour distance by flight.

However once you think in different way, it could be very fun time.

I always take flights, but it is always personal time when we are on flights.

We just sleep, or spend time on watching movies. We cheers for our departure for trips at the beginning, but we take personal time as losing enthusiasm.

Ferries could be different. Right after cheers, we get on a ferry, and check in each rooms, then we can be together again and we enjoy all facilities in the ferry.

Like big fancy cruise trips, you start from a big restaurant, and there are bar where you can drink all together, night club, and sauna etc. Those facilities will bond you more so you can be together from the beginning of the trip as talking about the journey with beers.

After enjoying ferry’s night, you go to bed and when you wake up, you arrive at Japan, and you start riding from there.

Japan!! where is close but we feel it’s far away.

If you use bike and ferry, it is very close to you.
