Powder Skiing on Mt.Halla of Jeju #4
Name : teamax Date : 2012-06-16 AM 10:14:10, Read : 815

I looked back after a long run. It''s skiers'' habit that skiers like to check their skiing marks.

It''s only my skiing mark vividly between blue sky, white snow, and trees. I took that into my camera.

1. Phenomenal snow view(Before powder skiing)
2. Tree-run course where we can see Baerokdam
3. Skiing mark on valley
4. Skiing route toward entrace of Sunpanak course

I turned on the helmet-cam, and enjoyed tree-run powder skiing.

I ran the valley this time.

Normally valleys get shade so they have the best snow, and their shapes are ''V'' so they have the most snow also. But there could be rocks or roots of trees hidden under the powder snow, so it''s hard to see them, and especially heat from flowing water melt powder snow on the valley, so they could have very thin layer of snow.

They look fine but sometimes we can fall into that hole when skiing on them.

Thus you''d better not follow valleys too far, but I lost my mind because of fun of powder skiing.

I was going in the valley in deeper and deeper.

I did jump from a rock in valley.

I took a picture of my skiing mark.

* After fix helmet-cam on a ski pole, I took a picture of myself while skking.

Oops! I ran too excitedly. Where I was going was quite different from where GPS directing me to Sunpanak parking lot.

I should''ve skied along the left side of Saraoreum and Sungnaloreum but I was doing totally opposite.

My brain said;

''Oh? If I keeping going like this, I would need to walk up to Sungpanak parking lot when I meet 516 Mt. road!''

However I had already skied down too far to climb up again, and skies drove me to much deeper powder tree-run.

After another long run, I made my mind to ski between Sungnaloreum and Nongonak, and drove my skies toward Sungnaloreum for short walk up.

The mountain was getting platter, and I saw cars passing over there.

That mountain road was 516 Mt. road.

I pushed myself with poles as sketing and approached to the road, and took trekking shoes out of backpack, then changed ski boots to tekking shoes, and put skies on my shoulder and started walking up toward Sunpanak parking lot.

As I was walking up, I had eye contacts with car drivers from the other side of the road, they they seemed they couldn''t take off their these big round eyes from me and my skies, then they kept driving away.

Or some of car drivers from my side of the road stopped their cars for a sec, then kept driving away.

I walked up for about 2 km to get the parking lot.

I didn''t expect what I skied out of route at first made this such a big gap between the parking lot and where I met 516 road.

However I had been whistling while walking up 516 road, the totally white world, so it was not tough at all, and Halla Mt. said Good Bye with beautiful sunset to me on the way to home

1&2. The sunset Halla Mt. showed me after powder skiing
3&4. Hot Springs is like a gold to powder skiers

As soon as I came back to the guest house, I joined guest house''s daily BBQ party.

So I full-filled my hunger with BBQ of Jeju''s dark pigs'' pork belly, then I comforted my tired body from cold and weight of backpack by Hot Springs.

My eye lids were coming down automatically in Hot Springs.

I thought about today''s powder skiing again, and got excited for tomorrow''s Witseoreum course, then came back to the guest house and went to bed early.

However I couldn''t notice that dark clouds were coming to Halla Mt. until I went to bed.
