From Incheon to Ulaanbaatar!!

There are two direct flight from Korea to Mongolia, and they are Mongolian Airline(MIAT)and Korean Airline(KAL).

I was tired of hearing about MIAT''s safety issues so I didn''t want to pick MIAT. They say MIAT bought a used plane from KAL and they run that plane for all schedules..

We picked KAL, but KAL has issues too.


Normally ticket price for flight to Mongolia is around $600~$650 but they raise it up more than $900 during July and August.

And that is the peak season when the most Korean tourists are going to Mongolia for travels.

Interesting fact is that Korean travelers do not go to Mongolia from Oct to April since the weather of Mongolia for that time is too windy and cold.

Plus, Mongolia on May has worse weather condition because of yellow sand dust passing Mongolia so the real flight ticket price is more than $900 for Korean to travel to Mongolia.

Wow.. $900 for only 3 hour flight.

However other airlines cannot put on Mongolia line except for KAL.

So Korean tourists has no choice but need to pay more than $900 for that flight ticket.

Therefore, lost of Koreans who need to go and come back to Mongolia have critical views over KAL''s exclusive.

Well, if they raise the price for their benefits, they also need to raise up their quality of service.

But there''s no change in their service. Now only KAL has exclusive rights to go to Mongolia International Airport.

I don''t know why..

But Asiana Air Lines'', another Korean air line, bid was rejected by Mongolian government.

Whatever the reason would be, I believe tourists deserve various choices.

I hope there would be various air lines on Mongolia''s sky like Mongolia has rich natural sources.
