Mongolian people’s main dishes are ‘meat’.
Especially lamp is their main menu on the table so it’s hard to see vegetables on the table because of nomad life style: Well, I guess they are busy for feeding their house animals with vegetables.
They have special lamp dish which is called ‘Hurhuk’.
You can think it is type of boiled lamp; it is very rare and precious food for really special day or super VIP guests.
Let’s talk about how to cook it.
They prepare one whole sheep, put hot rocks into sheep’s stomach and put it into a hole and place hot rocks on it again, and cover the hole with dirt.
It should be boiled more than 11 hours.
If it’s cooked like that way, lamp’s own specific smell will be gone and it becomes good food for stamina.
And you can enjoy it with carrots and onions.
Actually I really enjoyed Mongolian food.
I gained over 6kg in such a short stay.
My body shape was turning into what Mongolian men look like so even Mongolian people thought I was one of them.
