Spring is a wonderful time to visit the best Island in Korea. It¡¯s warming up and the weather is beautiful. You will find that going in spring is completely different to any other time of year, so if you have already visited Jeju at another time you¡¯ll find that it still has more to offer you. If you have never been before, then sign up now, don¡¯t miss this hassle free way to see Jeju Do.
After an early start at Gimpo airport and a short flight straight down south, we¡¯ll be on the biggest Island off of South Korea. A local bi-lingual Korean guide will greet us at the airport and take us from place to place for the whole weekend.
Our first stop will be Manjang Cave, at 7416 metres it is the longest lava tube cave in the world and well worth seeing. It stays a cool temperature of between 11-21¡¯C all year round, so make sure to bring a sweater. There are many natural lava figures in the cave that have low lighting to help point them out. Make sure to set your camera on night and stand as still as possible when taking photos.
Next is the nearby Gymnyeong Maze Park. This hedge maze was designed and grown by a fellow foreigner, who immigrated to Jeju Do many years ago after he fell in love with the island. Why not race around trying be the fastest to reach the bell? Or take a map with you incase you think you¡¯ll get lost. This is a fun way to get to know your fellow travellers in a friendly competitive way.
After getting lost and hopefully found again well make our way to our favourite Jeju Black pork barbeque restaurant. Black pork is famous in Jeju and this one is particularly good. We¡¯ll have a well deserved lunch and break before our next touristy stop, the Trick-art museum.
A gallery full of realistic pictures where your photography skills will be put to the test. Here you can stand in front of a charging mammoth, or walk across a plank over a very long drop, plus many more. It¡¯s a fun way to make friends as you swap cameras and posing ideas on you way around the museum.
Next we¡¯ll go trekking on Geomum Oreum (Holy Mountain) crater. Here we will find a valley of lava that erupted from the middle of the crater. It is the largest of its kind on Jeju Island. There are many conical hills to see from the tree lined path, and at a height of over 450 metres it allows good views of Jeju Do.
After our long day we need a big feed, so we¡¯ll stop by a great buffet where you can eat your fill, and regain your energy for the busy day tomorrow.
After dinner we will finally get to our hotel, chill out and sing in the noraebang right in the hotel, or relax in your room chatting to new and old AK friends.
On Sunday after breakfast, pack up your stuff and we¡¯ll head off for another fun travel packed day. First on the list is the O¡¯Sullock Tea Farm.
Here you can see tea growing, as well as taste or buy many kinds of tea.
Men have enjoyed tea for over 5,000 years. During his exile, Chusa Kim Jeong Hee developed a tea culture on the island by growing tea trees and enjoying tea with other scholars who loved tea, and left a great deal of masterpieces. Jeju Island has the perfect climate for farming the best quality tea. O¡¯Sulloc was built at the entrance of Seogwang Tea Farm owned by the Sulloc Tea Company. It has served as a place of culture balanced with tradition and modernity and nature-friendly relaxation. It will also help you to understand traditional Korean tea culture while enjoying a variety of green tea.
After some refreshing tea, we¡¯ll go to the exciting Chinese Acrobatic, and motorbike show. It¡¯s spectacular to see just how many motorbikes can fit in one big ball. And the acrobats are truly amazing; many are very young, and incredibly bendy.
After a quick lunch break we¡¯ll go on another trek, this time up Mt Songak crater. Here you can get a view of Marado Island; the southernmost island in South Korea. The island is remarkably flat. We may also get to see some lava tubes.
Something new for our tour is a ferry ride. Here we will see the South Eastern side of Jeju Do. We¡¯ll get fantastic views of Jungbang waterfall, a rare sight of fresh water falling straight into the sea. Jusangjeolri, an unusual lava rock formation of pillars. Oedolgae Cliff a dramatic cliff drop where the famous drama ¡®Daejanggeum¡¯ was filmed. And much more.
Next we will go to Bird Island. Here we can walk around the well made path looking at the amazing cliffs, and flora on the island. It will be relaxing and a great way to wind down from this fun packed trip.
Our final stop before heading to the airport will be a shopping complex where you can get all your souvenirs and gifts for all those you left in Seoul and at home.
We will be travelling with Jeju guides who possess plenty of local knowledge, so feel free to ask questions during your stay. They also know what the weather is like and usually call ahead to make sure we don¡¯t have to wait too long for each event. So this schedule may change for our benefit so we can get the most out of our trip to Jeju Island.
Our Spring tour is right in the middle of spring, so flights get filled up quickly. Reservations must be completed by April 2, as we need to inform the airline company of all passengers. |
