Ever wanted to explore the DMZ, look across the border into North Korea, and explore a historic village right on the border? Now’s your chance! We are offering an overnight trip to a unique village next to the DMZ. From our location, we will be able to learn more about the ongoing conflict between the North and South. During our stay we will experience a mixture of nature, history, and travel to various historic landmarks. This includes a 4km walk along a canyon trail, a trip to the 2nd Infiltration Tunnel, the Northernmost train station, the Unification Observatory, and more!
Our meals will be prepared by the local villagers using local ingredients. We’ll also be taking part in a Korean cooking class where we will learn how to make traditional Korean rice clay cakes.
To end our day, we’ll be engaging in fun summertime activities! We’ll be enjoying a poolside party right at our accommodation which we will have to ourselves. We will also enjoy Korean BBQ and cooking s’mores.

- Stay in a pension house that is just 5 km from the border. You’ll be able to see into North Korea from the pension house, but don’t worry, it is completely safe.
- Take a walk along the 4 km long trail built along the canyons created by volcanic eruptions.
- Visit and explore the 2nd Infiltration Tunnel, the second tunnel found by South Koreans that the North Koreans dug into the country
- Go to the Unification Observatory which overlooks the Iron Triangle Battlefield, which had the highest number of casualties during the war, and look into North Korea with binoculars
- We’ll visit Woljeongri Train Station. Woljeongri is the last stop of one of the lines going into North Korea, and with the sign that says “The Iron Horse wants to run” you can see the remains of a train that used to make trips into North Korea often.
- Go to the Labor Party Building where the Labor Party was headquartered before the Korean War broke out. When the war started and during the anticommunist movement, the people there were tortured and killed. The back of the building has human remains, metal chains, and lots of bullets still to this day
- Eat local meals prepared by the villagers using locally-grown ingredients
- Learn how to make and decorate rice clay cakes
- Chill in or by the pool, which we will have all to ourselves
- Take plenty of photos at historic and beautiful sites
