You can take a peek into the North from an observatory that is almost on the edge of the demarcation zone, only a few km from the border. Visit the last train that used to connect the North and South, the sites of devastating ruins, the shockingly calm landscape of the bloodiest battlefield in the war, and so much more!
During our stay we will experience a mixture of nature, history, and travel to various historic landmarks. This includes a 4km walk along a canyon trail, a trip to the 2nd Infiltration Tunnel, the Northernmost train station, the Unification Observatory, and more!
You will leave this trip with a whole new perspective about the Korean War and how it affects us today.
To end our day, we’ll be engaging in fun summertime activities! We’ll be enjoying a poolside party right at our accommodation which we will have to ourselves. We will also enjoy Korean BBQ and cooking s’mores.
Our meals will be prepared by the villagers using the local area’s ingredients.
We’ll also learn how to make and decorate Korean rice cakes in a fun cooking class at the village community center.
Sign up now for a one-of-a-kind experience at the DMZ this summer!
- Stay in a pension house that is just 5 km from the border. You’ll be able to see into North Korea from here, but don’t worry, it is completely safe.

- We’ll visit Woljeongri Train Station and the ruins of the “Last Train to North Korea” that used to connect both sides of the Korean Peninsula

What to expect
Take in the breathtaking views of the valley and the Goseokbawi Rock that sits in the middle of the Hangtangang River at Goseokjeong Pavilion. Many famous K-Dramas were filmed in this area because of how scenic it is!
Get an amazing and shockingly close view of North Korea at the Unification observatory through binoculars. Try to find the bunkers and outposts from both countries in the hillsides, and observe the North Korean homes in the distance.
Walk through the 2nd Infiltration Tunnel.
Enjoy delicious Korean BBQ prepared by the villagers and other homemade food made from their locally-grown ingredients!
Visit Woljeongri Station, one of the northernmost train stations in Korea. It used to connect both sides of the Korean Peninsula and even reached Moscow, Russia! Now, it is the site of the ruins of the “Last Train to North Korea.”
Walk around the Labor Party Building, also known as Nodongdangsa, where the area around it used to be part of Northern Korea in 1946 before the war. The building has been partially destroyed because of the war, and you can see evidence of bullet holes, bombs, and tank tracks very clearly.
Take in the shockingly serene view of the Baekmagoji battlefield. It was one of the bloodiest battles during the Korean War, and because of how severe it was, the mountain it was fought on lost its original shape. It was said to resemble a white horse (baengma) lying down.
Take a scenic and unique walk along the 4 km long trail built along a canyon that was created by volcanic eruptions.
End the day on a sweet note by roasting s’mores over a fire together and having fun through the night.
Chill in or by the pool, which we will have all to ourselves
Learn how to make and decorate traditional Korean rice cakes.
