Overview

Have you ever been curious about what the DMZ is, and what North Korea looks like from the South Korean border? Now’s your chance! We will be going on an overnight trip to a unique village right next to the DMZ! Learn more about the ongoing conflict between North and South Korea by seeing these historic locations and monuments in person.

You can take a peek into the North from an observatory that is almost on the edge of the demarcation zone, only a few km from the border. Visit the last train that used to connect the North and South, the sites of devastating ruins, the shockingly calm landscape of the bloodiest battlefield in the war, and so much more!
During our stay we will experience a mixture of nature, history, and travel to various historic landmarks. This includes a 4km walk along a canyon trail, a trip to the 2nd Infiltration Tunnel, the Northernmost train station, the Unification Observatory, and more!

You will leave this trip with a whole new perspective about the Korean War and how it affects us today.

To end our day, we’ll be engaging in fun summertime activities! We’ll be enjoying a poolside party right at our accommodation which we will have to ourselves. We will also enjoy Korean BBQ and cooking s’mores.

Our meals will be prepared by the villagers using the local area’s ingredients.
We’ll also learn how to make and decorate Korean rice cakes in a fun cooking class at the village community center.

Sign up now for a one-of-a-kind experience at the DMZ this summer!

  • Stay in a pension house that is just 5 km from the border. You’ll be able to see into North Korea from here, but don’t worry, it is completely safe.
  • Take a scenic and unique walk along the 4 km long trail built along a canyon that was created by volcanic eruptions.
  • Visit and explore the 2nd Infiltration Tunnel, the second tunnel found by South Koreans that the North Koreans dug into the country
  • Visit the Unification Observatory that overlooks the Iron Triangle Battlefield, North Korean villages, military bunkers and outposts that you can see through binoculars
  • We’ll visit Woljeongri Train Station and the ruins of the “Last Train to North Korea” that used to connect both sides of the Korean Peninsula
  • Examine the Labor Party Building ruins, also known as Nodongdangsa, where the area around it used to be part of Northern Korea in 1946 before the war
  • Eat meals prepared by the villagers using locally-grown ingredients of Cherwon
  • Learn how to make and decorate Korean rice cakes
  • Enjoy the bonfire and roast s’mores at night
  • Chill in or by the pool, which we will have all to ourselves
  • Take plenty of photos at all these historic and beautiful sites
