2026 Jindo Sea Parting Festival & Mokpo

The Jindo Miracle Sea Parting Festival returns this spring, bringing visitors to the beautiful southwest island of Jindo for one of the most unique natural events in South Korea. The Festival will feature the unforgettable Sea Parting experience, the vibrant Holi Hai Jindo Color event, an evening EDM party, a Foreigners K-pop Singing Contest, Cooking contest and many other exciting activities throughout the day.

Jindo is often described as magical because once a year the sea dramatically recedes, resembling the biblical story of Moses parting the waters. This rare natural phenomenon occurs only here and creates a 40-meter wide path stretching approximately 1.8 kilometers, allowing visitors to walk across to a nearby island. Known as the “Jindo Moses Miracle,” the festival is considered one of the three largest annual celebrations in Korea, alongside the Mud Festival and the Ice Fishing Festival. In April, we will depart early Saturday morning from Seoul/Suwon/Osan for a comfortable bus ride down to Jindo to join the festivities. Additional pickups will be arranged along the way, making it easy for everyone to take part in this incredible spring event without missing out.

This year, the unique sea parting phenomenon in Jindo will take place in the afternoont. Because sections of the 1.8 kilometer pathway can remain wet or form unexpected puddles, we strongly advise wearing protective footwear. Thigh-high rubber boots are available for purchase at the festival site and are highly recommended, as sharp shells and small marine debris may be hidden beneath the shallow water.

As the tide retreats, the seabed reveals a fascinating underwater world. You’ll likely spot various sea creatures along the route, making the walk both scenic and adventurous. If you’re interested, you may bring a small bag to collect seafood to enjoy later. Around the festival grounds, you’ll also find a wide selection of food stalls offering fresh local dishes and regional specialties.

To make the day even more exciting, there are additional activities! Watch the Jindo Dog Show and at 15:00 pm there is a Black and White Chef Cooking Competition, where participants can show their cooking skills. If you wish to participate, please inform us in advance so we can register you.

The annual Holi Hai Color Event will once again bring vibrant energy to the festival. Participation requires a white T-shirt, so please bring one with you or purchase one at the event area. We will provide color powder packs so you can fully enjoy throwing bright colors with friends and fellow participants before heading to the 16:30 pm sea-parting experience.

We will also join the local parade wearing our rubber boots, walking alongside villagers as they play traditional drums and instruments. The procession will lead us directly to the sea-parting site, creating a lively and authentic cultural atmosphere. After returning, you’ll have time to clean up and prepare for the Global Zone Night Party.

Accommodation will be traditional Korean-style ondol rooms, featuring floor bedding in true local fashion. If you are traveling with friends, let us know in advance so we can arrange rooms together. You are welcome to bring an air mattress for extra comfort, but after a full day of activities and an evening celebration, you may find yourself falling asleep the moment your head hits the pillow.

The accommodation at our Youth Hostel is a renovated building, very clean, plenty of bedding (Must bring your own towels and toiletries). The whole building is for Adventure Korea and Good Times Rok ONLY !

Starting at 19:00 till about 20:00, Good Times Rok (GTR) will be providing you with a band, dance team, and Dj’s for the Global zone party.

On the second day, we will have a slightly late breakfast and then depart for Mokpo City. After arriving in Mokpo, we will take a light hike up the famous Yudalsan Mountain, where you can enjoy a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of Mokpo city and the sea. Don’t forget to capture some amazing photos to remember the moment.

This journey centers around the incredible Sea Parting Festival in Jindo, but the experience goes far beyond the main event. Throughout the weekend, you’ll have the chance to explore additional performances, cultural activities, local food markets and interactive programs, all while we handle the logistics. Simply relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and immerse yourself in the celebration without worrying about the planning.
