2023 Jindo Sea Parting Festival

The 43rd Jindo Miracle Sea Parting Festival is back after 3 years of absence due to Covid restrictions. Spring is upon us for this wonderful Festival that will include so many things there such as the highlight of the Sea Parting, Holi Hai Jindo Color event, Toga mob dance. Global Zone EDM Party in the evening, Jindo dog show and much  more !
Jindo is a magical place where once a year the sea parts almost like the biblical story of Moses parting the sea. This phenomenon that happens once a year ONLY in Jindo, lasts long enough for people to walk across to an island distance of 1.8 kilometers, usually situated in the middle of the sea. Jindo Sea Parting festival, also called the Jindo Moses Miracle, is one you must see while you are here in Korea. It is one of the 3 biggest festivals in Korea each year, along with the Mud Festival and Ice Fishing Festivals. The opportunity to witness and walk the 40 meter wide path for about 1.8 kilometers is highly recommended.

This Year, we will participate in a special program to take care of our ocean by participating in the micro plastic clean up on the beach. You will get hands-on training on how the micro plastic is filtered into the buckets and see through a magnifying glass of all the micro plastic that is on the beach. Everyone who registers and takes part in doing this volunteer program for 30 minutes will receive a special certificate from the county mayor himself.

Please register when booking the trip.

On early Saturday morning, we are leaving from Seoul /Suwon /Osan /Daejeon /Cheongju /Daegu /Kunsan/ Busan/Changwon-may join us for an early morning bus ride down to Jindo to Participate in the Festivities. On the way from Seoul we will pick up others from different cities, like the ones mentioned above so don’t feel like you have to miss out.

This year the sea parts ONLY once in the evening and will not part the full 1.8 kilometers but we will still have a chance to walk a good ways to experience the parting of the sea. It is a good idea to either bring water shoes with you or purchase the thigh high gumboots at the festival. Some parts of the path may stay covered in water and there can be large pools that you may step into as you cross. It is highly recommended to buy boots or wear something to protect your feet because there are sharp sea shells etc in the water.

While walking across you will see a myriad of sea creatures. Feel free to bring a plastic bag to collect any to take back for a snack later in the evening.

The whole festival venue has a variety of booths set up with some delicious local foods, but if you want a little more global type of food, then you can go to the global zone where there will also be some food vendors from Turkey, China, Japan, Germany, and much more.

All of our guests will receive one free draft beer coupon and you may go to our booth (Good Times Rok, Adventure Korea, and Waegook Travel) to get your free draft beer. This Year, we will have Tattoo Space bar from Mokpo providing the draft beers and cocktails for the festival.

From 11:00am the official festival activities will be starting, various hand-on programs like pottery making, you can watch Jindo dog show or traditional performance at the main stage.

This year we added in some other fun events where you can win some prizes. We will have a talent contest for the Foreigners at 1pm with prizes given out to the winners (group singing is welcomed also) or whatever talent you have. Please let us know in advance so we can have you signed up.

Please check out the Korean wrestling (syrum) competition from 3pm. There will be a few professional wrestlers to demonstrate how the Korean wrestling is done, so If you are a wrestler or want to try, and like to participate, let us know if you would like to sign up, and we’ll register your name. In past years, our members have participated and did very well. We have women and men category wrestling competitions with great prizes that will be handed out.

After the wrestling, at 4:00, we will go join in the 2nd annual Holi Hai color event.

Everyone must wear a white T-shirt to participate so bring a white shirt or you may purchase a T-shirt there by the event area. This event will be fun to throw different colors on your friends and all others who participate before doing the 5:30pm sea parting.

Bring your own white t-shirt (get 2 color powder bags)

After the color event, we will be able to put on Toga’s and then participate in the Toga Flash

Mob dance by the sea parting area.

After the Toga flash mob dance, we will get our rubber boots and walk in the parade with the villagers as they beat the drums and other musical instruments. The villagers will lead us to the parting of the sea. After when you get back you may go freshen up and get ready for the Global Zone night Party.

Our accommodation is an Ondol Korean style rooms with bedding, so if you have a group let us know so we can put you all together (room sizes hold 4 people). You may bring an air mattress for more comfort if you like but after a long day of festivities and night party, you will just end up passing out.

The accommodation to our Youth Hostel is a renovated building, very clean, plenty of bedding, and in a prime location on the beach (Must bring own towels and toiletries) which is literally 1 minute walking distance to and from the Festival and close to the main stage area so you can come and go as you please. The whole building is for Adventure Korea, Good Times Rok, and Waegook Travel members ONLY !

Unlike other tour groups with their accommodations, which are a distance from the festival, they would be shuttling back and forth with the traffic so they cannot get the full time experiencing the Festival.

Starting at 8:30pm till about midnight, Good Times Rok (GTR) will be providing you with a band, dance team, and Dj’s for the Global zone party. Since our accommodation is walking distance, feel free to join in and watch the show for as long as you like.

This trip is focused on the sea parting festival, but there are still many other activities that the festival offers. You can relax over the weekend and let us take care of the details.

This is one of the most popular trip and seats will fill up quickly, so sign up now !

Last couple of years, we have SOLD out almost 3 weeks before the trip.
