Team building Day with U.S Army!

Written by Nazligul Akbulak

Exploring the rich history and vibrant culture of Seoul is an unforgettable experience and one of our recent groups had the perfect introduction to the city. During this guided tour with Adventure Korea, participants spent the day discovering some of the capital’s most iconic and charming neighborhoods, blending royal history, traditional culture and hidden local gems.

Team building Day with U.S Army!

A Royal Beginning at Gyeongbokgung Palace

The day began at Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest and most famous of Seoul’s five grand palaces. Built in 1395 during the Joseon Dynasty, the palace served as the main royal residence for centuries.

As the group entered the palace grounds, they had the opportunity to watch the famous Royal Guard Changing Ceremony, a colorful reenactment of the traditional guard that protected the palace during the Joseon era. The guards, dressed in vibrant historical uniforms and carrying traditional weapons, performed the ceremony with drums, flags and precise movements. It was a fascinating moment that brought Korean history to life and gave visitors a glimpse into the royal traditions of the past.

After the ceremony, the group explored the palace courtyards, elegant pavilions and grand halls while learning about royal life and court traditions. Surrounded by the mountains and historic architecture, it felt like stepping back in time.

Traditional Streets and Artisan Culture in Insadong

After exploring the palace, the tour continued to the lively cultural street of Insadong. Known as one of the best places in Seoul to experience traditional Korean culture, the area is filled with art galleries, antique shops, tea houses and street vendors. The group enjoyed wandering through the narrow alleys, discovering handmade crafts, calligraphy art and traditional souvenirs.

A Charming Walk Through Bukchon Hanok Village

The final stop of the day brought the group to the picturesque Bukchon Hanok Village. Nestled between modern Seoul and historic landmarks, Bukchon is home to hundreds of beautifully preserved hanok, traditional Korean houses that date back centuries.

Walking through the hillside streets, the group was rewarded with stunning views where traditional rooftops meet the modern skyline of Seoul. The village offers a unique atmosphere where the past and present coexist, making it one of the most photogenic spots in the city.

Participants explored quiet alleys, captured memorable photos and learned more about how traditional Korean homes were designed to harmonize with nature and seasonal changes.

A Day Full of Culture, History and Fun

From royal palaces to charming traditional streets, this tour offered a perfect glimpse into Korea’s cultural heritage. Watching the royal guard ceremony, walking through historic neighborhoods and discovering local culture made this day both educational and unforgettable.
