This past weekend, the Jindo Sea Parting Festival brought crowds to Jindo Island to witness one of the country’s most remarkable natural events. As the tides receded, a narrow pathway emerged across the sea, allowing visitors to walk between islands in a rare and memorable experience. The event was filled with energy, as traditional performances, local food, and cultural activities took place alongside the sea walk, creating a lively and immersive atmosphere.

During this weekend, the Adventure Korea team not only experienced the natural phenomenon but also engaged with the story behind it. The legend of Bbyong, who prayed for the sea to part so she could reunite with her family, added a deeper cultural meaning to the event. Parades, folk music, and many more activities helped bring this story to life while showcasing the heritage of the region.

Adding a modern and vibrant twist, the Holi Hai Color Festival took place alongside the celebrations, filling the air with bursts of color and music. Inspired by Holi, participants spent the weekend throwing colored powders, dancing, and celebrating together in an atmosphere of pure excitement and unity. The contrast between the traditional sea parting event and the high energy color festival created a unique blend of experiences for attendees.

Together, the events made this past weekend on Jindo Island especially memorable. Visitors were able to walk across the sea in the morning and join a colorful celebration in the afternoon, experiencing both the cultural depth and the dynamic energy that define Korea’s festival scene.
