Lotte World Tower Guide: Seoul Sky Observation Deck and Views of Seoul

Tristan Mckeough

Lotte World Tower is the sixth tallest building in the world, tallest in OECD countries, and the tallest building in South Korea. Its height measures in at 555 meters. Near the top of the tower is Seoul Sky, which is located in the top seven levels of the tower. Seoul Sky is an observatory which offers sweeping views of the rest of Seoul thanks to 360 degree windows around the tower.

Some of the highlights of the observatory include a cafe, lounge bar, souvenir shop, and glass floor where you can look towards the ground below. Tickets to Seoul Sky are about $20 USD if you purchase online through a retailer such as Klook. You can also purchase tickets in person, though they end up being more expensive this way.

Entry to Seoul Sky is through Lotte World Mall, which is easily accessible through Jamsil Station which has connections to Seoul Metro Line 2 and 8. The doors to the experience are located B1F (Basement 1). The ticket is valid all day, so all you need to do is show your ticket confirmation when you get there. You can choose the time you want to go.

It’s recommended that you visit on a clear day for a better view, though you can still see a lot if it’s a bit cloudy. Visiting at night is also possible as the observatory is open 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM, Sunday through Thursday, and from 10:30 AM to 11:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. If you go at night, you can get an amazing view of Seoul as it is lit up at night.

There are a number of art installations throughout the halls leading up to the main elevator as well as in the observation deck area, which offer good spots for photos. The main elevator rises from the basement to floor 121 in just under a minute, travelling about 10 meters a second. At the top you are free to spend as much time as you want looking out the windows or taking some time to relax at one of the cafes there.

If you are staying in Seoul, taking a trip to Lotte World Tower is highly recommended since it’s easily accessible and easy to purchase tickets for. The experience is both cheap and doesn’t take much time, still leaving plenty of room to do other things during the day such as shopping at the convenient Lotte World Mall, just right next door.
