At the start of fall, the students of Seoul International School (SIS) traded textbooks for backpacks and embarked on an unforgettable journey to Inje, organized by Adventure Korea. It was a whirlwind of adventure, laughter, and a dash of friendships, leaving everyone with stories that will last a lifetime!
Seoraksan Mountain Hike
The adventure kicked off with an epic trek up Seoraksan Mountain, Ulsanbawi Boulder Course. With spirits high and energy abundant, the rocky path that challenged both body and mind. Each step brought us closer to the summit. Students cheered each other on, sharing snacks/drinks and laughter along the way.
As we hiked, the students learned valuable lessons about teamwork and perseverance. They discovered that supporting one another made the climb easier and more enjoyable. Many faced their fears of heights. They also gained a deeper appreciation for nature.
And the views? Let’s just say they were the cherry on top!
Culinary Creations and Pottery Fun
With the cooking class, we learned to make delicious traditional Korean dishes (Potato pancakes and a big Kimchi pancake) using fresh ingredients. It was amazing to see everyone working together, mixing, and then enjoying the tasty meal we had created that we all shared!
We used our hands to make pottery. With the help of local artisans, we shape clay into our own unique pieces. The laughter and creativity flowed as we joked about our artistic skills.Through this hands-on experience, the kids learned about patience and the importance of practice. Working together fostered a sense of community; students exchanged ideas and inspired each other, building confidence in their abilities.By the end of the session, each student not only left with a unique piece of pottery but also a deeper understanding of art, collaboration, and the beauty of embracing imperfection.
Thrills and Chills
But the fun didn’t stop there! We then geared up for the ultimate adrenaline rush at the challenge course. Students faced various obstacles that required teamwork, agility, and a sprinkle of bravery. Climbing walls, swinging bridges, and balance beams turned the day into a playful competition, with high-fives and playful shouts marking each accomplishment.
Zip lining was a big highlight of the day! As students soared above the ground, the wind in their hair and the breathtaking views below made for a thrilling experience. The shrieks of joy mixed with laughter created a symphony of adventure that resonated throughout the forest.
Beach Bliss
After all that excitement, a trip to the beach was the perfect way to unwind. Students kicked off their shoes and dove into the warm sand. Beach games erupted—frisbees flying, volleyballs bouncing, and waves crashing around us.
Memories Made, Friendships Strengthened
The Inje trip was more than just an adventure; it was a journey of self-discovery, teamwork, and laughter. From conquering mountains to creating art, every moment was a celebration of learning and connection. As the students of SIS returned home, they carried with them not just memories, but also strengthened friendships and a renewed sense of adventure.
