Let’s start with the most popular Korean dish worldwide, the tteokbokki. These little rice cakes in the gochujang sauce went viral on social media. Indeed, it’s part of the best street food selling dishes.
However, beware of this tricky dish– you may know that Korean food is very spicy and tteokbokki isn’t an exception.
A very affordable dish for spicy lovers. - Bibimbap
A big rice bowl with veggies, even bulgogi meat sometimes, and a spicy sauce. You will be amazed by how delicious this super simple dish is. A lot of restaurants sell Bibimbap throughout Seoul, you will easily find one that you’ll find tasteful. It’s the perfect dish for those who don’t eat pork or are vegetarian. - Kimbap
This speciality might be the easiest one to get as you will find them in any convenient stores for a very cheap price. This big rice and vegetable roll is the best option for a rapid snack in the middle of the day. Many declinaison exist with meat, fish, or even both. But of course, you can find some fanciest ones at restaurants, those at local restaurants are the best! - Japchae
For the noodle lovers, this is one is for you! This dish is made of dangmyeon(which is kind of a glass noodle made out of sweet potatoes), vegetables and soy sauce and can be eaten warm or cold depending on your preferences. A very famous dish that you will mostly find on the Myeongdong food street stands as well as supermarkets and restaurants of course. - Pajeon
A classic that you must know is the pajeon, the giant vegetable pancakes, a must do that you should try, especially when you visit whatever traditional market. It’s also a side dish that you will find on your table at the restaurant. Pajeon can also be made out of squid, a very famous dish in Korea loved by koreans. - Mandu
This is the Korean dumplings, most of the time filled with a pork stuffing, it can also be filled with kimchi or even japchae. Its particularity is that it’s a fried dumplings, also sold in traditional markets and as a side dish at the restaurant, it’s a warm and comforting food that is worth the price. - Hotteok
The most famous sweet pancake here in South Korea is the hotteok. Filled with a syrup most of the time made out of brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon, this big pancake is one of the best treats Korea has ever made, very warm and just sweet enough. Several versions exist, different filling can be found, and even savoury versions exist with a japchae or even a kimchi filling. - Bungeoppang
This extremely-popular-among-kids fish-shaped pastry is a popular winter street food item. Originally filled with red bean paste, you can find a cream or chocolate version that replaces the red bean paste if you are not into the asian flavors. - Kkwabaegi
You might have seen this twisted Korean doughnut as it went viral on social media. A very simple yet delicious threat which is only a sugar and cinnamon doughnut but with a twisted shape. Kkwabaegi is a true star among the street food stands and pretty cheap– the perfect dessert to end a meal with a sweet touch. - Bingsu
Probably the most famous Korean dessert: bingsu is the survival dish to survive a very hot summer. Made out of crushed ice covered with a syrup and some boiled red bean (for the original version) you can also go to a strawberry bingsu, biscuits or many other options following your preferences.
